Some people make a decent living through eBay selling, but I've not had much luck at it. I've been trying to sell a musical instrument on eBay, but the only responses I get are fraudulent schemes to get my instrument with bogus money orders. I was able to contact eBay about this scheme, and they are fully aware of it. It really bothers me that there are people out there who take advantage of others on the Internet this way, and I wonder how many people have been scammed by selling on eBay by unscrupulous buyers.
These scam artists are not limited to selling on eBay. I've listed it on other web sites, too, like craigslist, and gotten the same kind of responses. Contacting craigslist is about impossible except through email, and they post big warnings on every page about being careful about scamming situations where people offer money orders or cashier's checks that are bogus. I have other things I want to sell on eBay, and they are much less expensive, so I trust those transactions would be legitimate.
